Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed Executive Order 2020-110 on June 1, 2020, which rescinded the stay-at-home order, EO 2020-96, but continued limitations on certain activities.

What is New in Executive Order 2020-110?

With EO 2020-110, Michigan has entered Stage 4 of the Governor's "Safe Start" plan. On June 4, retail stores, outdoor public swimming pools, and children's day camps may open, subject to certain capacity and safety protocols being in effect. This expands the easing of restrictions in EO 2020-96, which permitted retail operations by appointment only.

On June 8, restaurants, bars, libraries, and museums may open to the public, again with certain safety protocols, including limited capacity. Also, so long as social distancing can be accomplished, outdoor social gatherings and events of up to 100 people are now permitted.

What Precautionary Measures Remain in Effect? 

Individuals who are going to be in a public, enclosed space must continue to wear a face covering, although individuals who are seated at a restaurant or bar are exempt from this requirement. Activities which require close, personal contact, and/or touching shared surfaces, such as gyms, hair salons, indoor theaters and cinemas, tattoo parlors, and casinos, remain closed.
