This morning Governor Evers released a statement notifying citizens that he will be issuing a “safer at home”. The impact of this order for individuals and businesses will depend on the wording of the order which is expected to be released tomorrow (Tuesday, March 24th).
The governor’s initial statement indicates that the order will, similar to the federal order and other state orders such as Ohio, require “non-essential” businesses to close. The effective date of the order is still unknown.
Governor Evers is expected to hold a 1:30 CST telephone briefing with reporters in which he may give additional detail regarding what parties can expect.
Ruder Ware is actively monitoring any updates that the State may provide regarding what businesses will be considered non-essential. However, the federal guidance is a good place for businesses to start as they begin to plan for tomorrow’s State order.
