HHS Once Again Renews Determination That a Public Health Emergency Exists

On January 14, 2022, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, renewed the declaration of the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE) that was first declared on January 20, 2020. 
 

The existing PHE declaration was scheduled to expire on January 16, 2022, and with this renewal, effective the same day, the declaration of the PHE remains in effect for another 90 days.  The existing CMS 1135 Waivers dated as of November 29, 2021, will also remain in effect for the duration of the declared PHE.
