When you apply for visas for your employees, the employees will probably be required to appear at a U.S. Consulate in his or her home country to finish the visa application. President Trump’s directive that U.S. Consulates implement “extreme vetting” has been affecting some of those applications. We recently learned of a new development that we believe is part of extreme vetting. If you have an employee whose visa application is pending, the person listed as the “employer contact” (usually the person who signed the application paperwork), may receive an e-mail message from this address: clientverification@state.gov. The message will ask questions to confirm that your employee will be performing services for your company in the U.S.
This is a legitimate message from a verified e-mail address that should be answered to complete the employee’s visa application.
