EU – DG COMP encourages parties to discuss the timing of notifications of transactions with the relevant case team and to use electronic means to notify their transactions. DG COMP will review cases in which parties can show very compelling reasons to proceed with a merger notification without delay. According to DG COMP’s website, 361 deals were notified in 2020 (77% under the simplified procedure), compared to 382 in 2019. According to published data, pre-notification in 2020 took twice as long compared to 2019.
