Look Ahead to the Week of November 6: House Votes on Spending Bills

Both the House and Senate will be in session this week.

The House is continuing to push forward on individual fiscal year 2024 appropriations bills this week, with plans for a vote on the House GOP’s Transportation-Housing and Urban Development and Financial Services-General Government spending bills. Last week, the Senate passed a trio of spending bills, though the focus this week is on nominations, including the nomination of Monica Bertagnolli as director of the National Institutes of Health.

The Administration

The White House announced $16.4 billion in new funding for 25 passenger rail projects on Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor as the President travels to Delaware to meet with Amtrak employees.

House Side

On Monday, the House will meet to consider multiple bills under suspension.

  • Bills expected under suspension of the rules.
    • H.R. 1607 – To clarify jurisdiction with respect to certain Bureau of Reclamation pumped storage development, and for other purposes, as amended (Rep. Schweikert – Natural Resources)
    • H.R. 1722 – Grand Ronde Reservation Act Amendment of 2023 (Rep. Salinas – Natural Resources)
    • H.R. 3448 – American Battlefield Protection Program Enhancement Act, as amended (Rep. Stefanik – Natural Resources)
    • H.R. 359 – Fort San Gerónimo Preservation Act (Rep. González-Colón – Natural Resources)
    • H.R. 2717 – Hershel “Woody” Williams National Medal of Honor Monument Location Act, as amended (Rep. Blake Moore –  Natural Resources)
    • H.R. 1318 – Women’s Suffrage National Monument Location Act (Rep. Neguse – Natural Resources)
  • Bills considered under a rule.
    • H.R. 4820 – Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2024 (Rep. Cole – Appropriations)

Tuesday – Thursday, the House is scheduled to meet for legislative business.

Senate Side

On Monday, the Senate will vote on the motion to invoke cloture, or limit debate, on Monica Bertagnolli’s nomination to be director of the National Institutes of Health.
