Marcellus shale significantly impacts energy issues. Natural gas is an abundant, reasonably priced and clean energy source. In this video, attorney James P. Dougherty talks about a vital Marcellus end use application - NGVs or Natural Gas Vehicles.
Marcellus gas can be used to run our factories and our industries as well as to heat our homes and businesses. We can also use it to run our cars, trucks or business fleets. Natural gas also presents an extraordinary opportunity to fuel our nation's transportation needs. NGVs, both Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as well as Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) offer lower operation costs and reduce emissions.
CNG vehicles are affordable; to fuel a CNG vehicle, it costs roughly half on a per-gasoline-gallon equivalent of what it takes to fuel a gasoline vehicle. Natural gas is also price stable.
CNG applications also include trash, public transit and school districts. In fact, President Obama recently proposed a 5-year federal tax credit designed to encourage NGV use in the long-haul trucking industry by underwriting 50% of any differential acquisition costs.
Natural gas is a secure and long term sustainable solution for reducing our nation's petroleum dependency.
The Energy and Environmental group at McNees Wallace & Nurick assists industrial and commercial end users on ways the Marcellus can make their facilities more competitive, more energy efficient and more environmentally sound through this natural resource. See less -
