The week of April 3-7, the House of Representatives passed their version of the 2023-24 State Budget. House Bill 259, 2023 Appropriations Act now heads to the North Carolina Senate. In addition, Republicans gained a seat in the House as Representative Tricia Cotham announced her change in party registration. Thursday, April 6 was also the bill filing deadline in the Senate.

In the coming week, lawmakers at the North Carolina General Assembly are taking a Spring Break after a very fast start to the Session and will return to committee work and floor votes the week of April 17.
