NVC Errors Continue

The National Visa Center (the “NVC”) recently issued letters to immigrant visa applicants indicating that termination proceedings have been initiated. The affected individuals subsequently received e-mails from the NVC assuring them that, in fact, their cases were on track and that the previous letters should be ignored.

A similar situation occurred in 2014, though in that instance, the NVC denied knowledge of any erroneous termination letters.

The bottom line: applicants for immigrant visa processing would be well-advised to contact the NVC at least once a year to ensure that case processing continues. It is also a best practice to maintain comprehensive records of any and all correspondence with the NVC regarding your case.
