On May 15, 2013, the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (“OFCCP”) announced that covered federal contractors will have until January 1, 2014 to start using 2010 Census data for determining availability when preparing annual affirmative action plans.

Contractors may continue to use the “old” census data (the Census 2000 Special EEO File) for plan years starting before January 1, 2014. Plans starting on or after that date will need to use the 2006-2010 EEO Tabulation data, available on the Census Bureau’s web site available through this link.

Although the Census Bureau released the 2006-2010 EEO Tabulation data in November 2012, OFCCP recognizes that contractors and vendors will require time to convert their systems and that many contractors have already prepared their 2013 plans using the 2000 Census data.
