Oklahoma-Arkansas River Compact Commission: 2018 Annual Meeting Scheduled

The Arkansas-Oklahoma Arkansas River Compact Commission (“ARK-OKL Commission”) has scheduled its 2018 annual meeting.

The meeting will be held on September 27th at John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.

River compacts are written agreements among or between the states approved by the United States Congress. The provisions of such compacts are approved through federal statutes and by the statutes of the member states. The focus of such compacts typically include, but are not limited to, interstate apportionment of the waters in a river and its tributaries between or among the member states.

The compact will also establish a Compact Commission which includes commissioners from the member states and one or more non-voting federal commissioners. The Compact Commissions typically review a variety of information such as:

  • Stream Flows
  • Reservoir Water Quantity
  • Water Quality

The September 27th ARK-OKL Commission meeting substantive agenda items include:
