National law firm Polsinelli congratulates financial services attorney Tiffany R. Harper for her installation as the 27th president of the Black Women Lawyers’ Association of Greater Chicago, Inc.

“BWLA has been a big part of my personal and professional life and I am truly honored to be chosen to lead this phenomenal group of attorneys,” Harper said.

BWLA was formed in 1987 and is one of the fastest growing bar associations in Illinois. The association has a goal of encouraging the inclusion of African-American attorneys in law firms, the judiciary, governmental agencies and corporations. Polsinelli also is committed to developing and mentoring the next generation of diverse attorneys and Harper serves as a member of the firm’s Diversity Committee.

Harper said a priority goal during her term as BWLA president would be to establish a formal mentoring program for the associations and members.

“Due to the economy, many attorneys – both young and seasoned – are looking for mentors, career opportunities and a road to growth and development,” she said. “I have learned a great deal from the women who have mentored me and helped me begin and advance my legal career. I want to make a mentor program a reality at BWLA.”

Harper joined Polsinelli in Chicago in January 2012 as an associate. She concentrates in the areas of financial services, loan enforcement and creditors bankruptcy and creditors right. Prior to joining Polsinelli, Harper served as a judicial law clerk in the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division and worked in-house at Navistar Financial Corporation where she managed commercial litigation matters across the nation and represented the company's interest in large Chapter 7 and 11 bankruptcy cases in various locales.

Harper earned her law degree from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law in 2008. She was Executive Primary Editor of Washington University Journal of Law & Policy. She earned a B.A. degree in Latin American and Caribbean studies from Dartmouth College in 2005.
