The Ober|Kaler Health Care General Counsel Institute presented this webinar discussion of key considerations in addressing an active shooter situation, including specific considerations within health care facilities. Not only is this part of prudent planning, but regulatory agencies are starting to expect facilities to incorporate this into their emergency planning.

The discussion addressed recent guidance from key agencies including the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Homeland Security, FEMA and the FBI. Presenters included Emily Wein, an Ober|Kaler Health Law Group attorney who previously served as in-house counsel to a multi-hospital academic health system, and Zach Wein, a Baltimore City SWAT Team officer who has helped coordinate training in hospitals.
