The Unleashing American Innovators Act, which formed part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2022, was signed into law by President Biden on December 29, 2022.

This Act increased the discount on most patent-related fees payable to the United State Patent and Trademark Office by small and micro entities. Starting December 30, 2022, the discount on most fees payable by a small entity was increased from 50% to 60% of the undiscounted rate, and the discount on fees payable by micro entities was increased from 75% to 80% of the undiscounted rate. However, according to the USPTO website, the change in fees does not apply to issue fees that are due on applications where the USPTO has already sent a notice of allowance setting the issue fee.  In such cases the fee payable is that stated on the notice of allowance.
