On December 22, 2023, ProSmile Holdings, LLC issued a press release describing a recent data security incident. According to this source, on July 22, 2022, ProSmile discovered a possible data security incident involving its email server. In response, ProSmile enlisted the help of third-party data security specialists to assist with the company’s investigation and determine what, if any, patient data may have been subject to unauthorized access.

After learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to an unauthorized party, ProSmile reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted. While the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include your name, date of birth, Social Security number, driver's license number, financial account number, payment card number, medical treatment information, clinical information, prescription information, and health insurance information.

On December 22, 2023, ProSmile sent out data breach letters to anyone who was affected by the recent data security incident. These letters should provide victims with a list of what information belonging to them was compromised.
