More Information About the Alleged Homeland Cyberattack

The Homeland cyberattack was only recently announced, and more information is expected in the near future. However, a recent post by databreaches.net provides some important information on the alleged Homeland cyberattack. According to this source, the ransomware group Hunters International breached Homeland's computer systems on October 26, 2023, although no details were provided about how the group obtained access. However, to support the group’s claims, Hunters International posted a sample of the stolen data, which included tenants’ personal information, including their dates of birth, addresses, annual incomes, and other details about their rent.

Hunters International also claims to have stolen 450,000 to 500,000 Social Security numbers belonging to tenants and their family members, as well as wage information pertaining to approximately 180 Homeland employees. The group, however, did not provide samples of any stolen Social Security numbers, citing the individuals’ privacy interests.

Databreaches.net reached out to Homeland but didn’t receive a response at the time of the article’s publication.

Homeland has yet to confirm that it was the victim of a cyberattack. However, if Hunters International’s claims are substantiated and sensitive data was stolen from Homeland’s network, the company will be required to send out data breach letters to anyone who was affected by the recent data security incident.
