Terra-Gen and Mortenson team up on Kern County solar+storage project

Terra-Gen has entered an agreement with Mortenson to build the Edwards & Sanborn solar+storage project located in Kern County, California. The project consists of 1,118 MW of solar and 2,165 MWh of energy storage. It is currently the largest single solar and battery energy storage project to reach this milestone.
Clean energy project in Nevada desert could be worth $3B

A company specializing in clean energy design has unveiled plans to build a carbon-neutral industrial park in the northern Nevada desert that it says would be the largest in the United States powered by locally generated renewable energy. TerraScale officials say the Energos project they plan to develop on up to 5.7 square miles of land east of Reno could eventually be worth billions of dollars. The first phase, which will begin in early 2021, will include a 20-MW, zero-carbon footprint data center that will initially use a mix of renewables and natural gas. Construction is expected to be completed by March 31, 2022.
Avista Utilities and Clearway Energy Group begin operations at Washington wind farm

Commercial operations are now underway at Spokane-based Avista Utilities and San Francisco-based Clearway Energy Group’s Rattlesnake Flat wind farm in Adams County, Washington. A majority of the site is privately-owned, while nearly 640 acres is on state trust lands managed by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources. The 160-MW Rattlesnake Flat consists of 57 wind turbines that will provide enough energy to power 38,000 homes per year, officials said.
Conservationists file appeal to stop Nevada solar project

Two conservation groups have filed an appeal to the recently approved Yellow Pine Solar Project with the Bureau of Land Management’s Southern Nevada District Office. On November 6, the BLM released a record of decision approving the 3,000-acre installation proposed southeast of Pahrump, Nevada. The environmental groups have raised concerns that the project would be harmful to Mojave yucca and the threatened desert tortoise, among other issues.
