ESS Inc. says 2 GWh flow battery deal will enable municipal utility SMUD to accelerate decarbonization process

A flow battery supply deal with Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) will accelerate the California utility's decarbonization process while mitigating risks, according to tech provider ESS Inc. (ESS). Earlier this week ESS and SMUD announced the multi-year agreement for the non-profit, community-owned energy supplier to deploy up to 200 MW/2,000 MWh of ESS's iron electrolyte flow battery technology in its service area.
NextEra brings online 485 MW solar-plus-storage plant in California

NextEra Energy's 485 MW solar PV co-located plant in Riverside County has reached full commercial operation, according to the U.S. Department of the Interior. The Blythe Solar Power Project, located on public land managed by the Bureau of Land Management, includes a 387 MW battery energy storage system.
Scaled-back proposal in the works for Oregon solar project

Hecate Energy is scaling back a southern Oregon solar project after eliminating the original proposal due to concerns about farmland and wildlife impacts. The developer will submit a revised proposal for the Bonanza solar project next year. Solar panels will occupy fewer than 1,000 acres within the new project's boundary, compared to about 1,900 acres previously, said Mark Zwieg, Hecate's project manager.
Enfinity to acquire 400 MW of U.S. solar parks from Capital Dynamics

Enfinity Global has closed a definitive agreement to acquire a 400 MW portfolio of solar parks in the U.S. from Swiss asset manager Capital Dynamics. The target portfolio consists of 28 utility-scale photovoltaic plants located in California, North Carolina, and Idaho. The specific plants were brought online during the past five years and operate under long-term power purchase agreements with utility off-takers.
