Nearly 20 years after the European Commission (the EC) set out its first strategic approach to the management of chemicals in the European Union1 (the EU), it adopted the new EU Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability – Towards a Toxic-Free Environment2 (the Strategy). The Strategy is part of the EU’s zero pollution ambition, one of the key commitments of the European Green Deal3, and was published by the EC on 14 October 2020.
