As a divorce lawyer, I recognize being recently divorced and handling the holidays isn’t easy for anyone!  You have experienced significant loss and the festivities can actually give you the blues. If you are in this position, or know someone that is, think about the following tips.

  1. Stay busy and plan on doing things you like to do.
  2. If you have children, if at all possible coordinate with your former spouse what gifts you each are buying to avoid duplicates and too much competition.
  3. Consider counseling, even if you aren’t sure if you need it!
  4. Make new traditions.
  5. For couple events, if you don’t have a significant other, ask if you can bring a friend for support.

Wishing you a happy and healthy holiday!
