On Wednesday, June 5, the Treasury Department published a notice in the Federal Register announcing that the Treasury Tribal Advisory Committee (TTAC) will meet on Thursday, June 20, from 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time in Washington, D.C., at the Treasury Building (Cash Room-2121), 1500 Pennsylvania Avenue NW. The meeting is open to the public.
Registration: Interested attendees must register online or by telephone no later than 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on Tuesday, June 11. Interested attendees should register soon because the meeting will be held in a secure building and individuals must be cleared in order to enter the building. Space may also be limited. Agenda: The following items are expected to be discussed during this meeting:
- Introduction of TTAC members and co-chair appointments.
- Review of the TTAC charter and mandate.
- Discussion of various federal income tax issues relating to Indians, including:
- Federal income tax issues relating to access to capital.
- Opportunity zones.
- Changes to the so-called ‘‘kiddie tax.”
- General welfare exclusion education of internal revenue field agents.
- Identification of other topics of interest for 2019.
- Any other actions necessary to fulfill the TTAC’s mandate.
