On both Monday and Tuesday, we reported on HR6201, the Families First Coronavirus Response Act bill, which provides employees affected by coronavirus with paid sick leave and paid FMLA benefits. The leave provisions in the legislation apply to employers with fewer than 500 employees and government employers. The U.S. Senate considered the bill this morning and passed it with no amendments. The bill is on its way to the President’s desk to be signed into law. President Trump has expressed his support for the bill, so we anticipate that he will sign it into law soon. The emergency paid sick leave and paid FMLA provisions of the bill take effect 15 day after it is enacted.
