U.S. states continue to explore agricultural trade opportunities with Cuba. During a recent visit to the island to explore potential opportunities, Missouri Governor Jay Nixon announced that Cuba had accepted a 20 ton shipment of Missouri rice at no cost to Cuba. Like other agriculture producing states, Missouri is seeking to jump start its commercial relationship with Cuba.

The focus on Agricultural trade between the two countries will continue in early June as Cuba’s Minister of Agriculture Gustavo Rodriguez Rollero joins his U.S. Counterpart Secretary Tom Vilsack in Washington D.C. to discuss further collaboration in the agricultural sector.
