The U.S. Poultry & Egg Association (“Association”) announced its Clean Water Award winners on October 17th at the Association’s Environmental Management Seminar (“EMS”).
The Association describes itself as the “All Feather Association progressively serving its poultry and egg members through research, education, communications and technical services.”
The Clean Water Award program is stated to recognize poultry facilities that are excelling in their efforts to treat wastewater and reduce potable water demand by reusing treated wastewater when possible.
Awards are given in two categories:
- Full treatment
- Pretreatment
Tyson Foods’ broiler processing plant in Dardanelle, Arkansas was selected as the winner in what is described as the “full treatment category.”
The other Clean Water Award winners included:
- Pilgrim’s Arcadia, Wisconsin broiler processing plant – pretreatment category
Honorable mention with distinction awards in the full treatment category were presented to:
- Tyson Foods in Union City, Tennessee
- Wayne-Sanderson Farms in Tyler, Texas
The Tyson Foods’ Berry Street facility in Springdale, Arkansas was awarded an honorable mention with distinction in the pretreatment category.
