On January 27, 2023, USCIS announced the initial registration period for 2024 H-1B visa cap. Prospective petitioners and representatives will be able to complete and submit their registrations online on the H-1B visa registration system from 12 p.m. Eastern time on March 1, 2023, through 12 p.m. Eastern time March 17, 2023.

Beginning at 12 p.m. EST on February 2, 2023, prospective petitioners (“registrants”) submitting their own registrations will have access to create new “registrant” accounts. A registration account is required online at myUSCIS.

Prospective H-1B visa cap-subject petitioners or their representatives must register each beneficiary electronically for the selection process. Representatives may add clients to their accounts at any time, but both representatives and registrants must wait until March 1, 2023, to enter beneficiary information. A $10 registration fee is required for each registration submitted on behalf of each beneficiary.

If enough registrations are received by March 17, 2023, USCIS will select registrations and send selection notifications to the users’ myUSCIS online account. If USCIS does not receive enough registrations, all registrations that were properly submitted in the initial registration period will be selected and notified by March 31, 2023.

A confirmation number will be provided for each registration submitted for 2024 and used to track registration progress.

H-1B visas are reserved for foreign nationals who hold “specialty occupations,” or positions requiring at least a bachelor’s degree to perform the duties of their job. Prospective employers are generally companies seeking to hire foreign nationals in these specialty occupation roles from abroad or for existing employees who may hold another visa status (i.e. F-1, TN).
