What Caused the See Tickets Breach?

The See Tickets data breach was only recently announced, and more information is expected in the near future. However, See Tickets’ filing with the Attorney General of Maine provides some important information on what led up to the breach. According to this source, in May 2023, See Tickets detected unusual activity within some of its e-commerce websites. In response, See Tickets launched an investigation to learn more about the incident and to determine what, if any, consumer data was compromised.

Later, in May 2023 and into June 2023, See Tickets determined that an unauthorized party installed lines of malicious code into the back-end of the “check out” pages of several of the company’s sites. This code allowed hackers to obtain certain information about individuals who made purchases through the affected websites.

After learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to an unauthorized party, See Tickets reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted. While the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include your name, address and payment card information.

On September 5, 2023, See Tickets sent out data breach letters to anyone who was affected by the recent data security incident. These letters should provide victims with a list of what information belonging to them was compromised.
