Several potential options are available to developers when permitting energy storage projects in Virginia. The Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC) adopted Regulations Governing the Deployment of Energy Storage effective as of January 1, 2021. Also, effective as of January 1, 2022, the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (VDEQ) adopted Small Energy Storage Facilities Permit by Rule (PBR) Regulations for energy projects 150 MWs or less.
Join us on Wednesday, May 19, from 11:00 – 11:35 am (ET) for an informative webinar where we will discuss SCC’s energy storage regulations, DEQ’s energy storage PBR regulations and practical tips when navigating the PBR process for energy storage projects.
The webinar will be hosted by Brad Nowak and Bob Riley, partners and co-chairs of Williams Mullen’s Solar and Energy Storage Practice Group. They will be joined by special guest, Susan Tripp, VDEQ’s Small Renewable Energy PBR Program Guidance & Regulation Coordinator. Susan Tripp manages VDEQ’s PBR program for small renewable energy (solar and energy storage) projects.
What you will learn:
- Overview of SCC’s energy storage regulations relative to permitting of non-utility energy storage facilities
- Overview of VDEQ’s small energy storage facilities PBR regulations
- Recent energy storage permitting developments and activity
