The national mental health crisis continues to worsen. This growing problem is driven by a confluence of factors, including increased prevalence of mental and behavioral health disorders, shortages of licensed behavioral and mental health care providers, insurance coverage gaps and low reimbursement rates, and societal stigma around mental and behavioral disorders.

One way to address the mental health crisis is to integrate behavioral and mental health services into the primary care setting, allowing patients to access coordinated care through a collaborative team that manages their health holistically. Evidence proves that the Collaborative Care Model, a type of integrated care model, delivers both better outcomes and improved cost efficiencies—but there are complex challenges to provider adoption. In a new Manatt Health webinar, North Carolina shares its experiences implementing the Collaborative Care Model and provides a practical roadmap for other states seeking to increase adoption.
