In the ongoing absence of federal legislation, multiple states have enacted omnibus privacy laws. In addition to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), which is already in effect and being actively enforced, three new laws will take effect in 2023: California’s new privacy framework (the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA)), as well as new omnibus laws in Virginia and Colorado. And, more states are actively considering and debating adopting their own variations of privacy and data security laws to add to this growing patchwork of laws.

Join us for a discussion of the laws taking effect in 2023, including what to expect from the rulemaking proceedings in California and Colorado that will shape expectations and obligations under these frameworks, as well as the steps your organization can start taking now to prepare. We will also review several key privacy proposals being considered by other states during what is already proving to be an active legislative session.
