Whitman Legal Solutions was founded and is managed by Elizabeth Whitman, whose commercial real estate experience includes more than $3 billion in transactions, spanning nearly every real estate asset class. Although Whitman Legal Solutions focuses on real estate transactions and real estate securities, its interdisciplinary and collaborative approach to real estate transactions enables it to custom tailor a structure that both fits the real estate asset and meets her client’s needs. Elizabeth Whitman also has extensive experience in healthcare transactions, with a focus on senior housing, adult day care, nursing home, and physicians’ practices.
With Elizabeth Whitman’s nearly 10 years as in-house General Counsel for a national real estate company and additional years as in-house real estate and securities counsel for a publicly-traded company, Whitman Legal Solutions also is uniquely qualified to serve as outside general counsel for businesses of all sizes.
Active in professional organizations, Elizabeth Whitman has served as Chair of the Real Estate Committee of the Association of Corporate Counsel and on the drafting committees for American Bar Association subcommittee comment letters to the Securities and Exchange Commission. She also has many years of service as a member of the Legislative and Regulatory Committee of the Alternative and Direct Investment Securities Association, has frequently written and spoken on real estate and real estate securities issues, and is a contributing author at Realty Biz News.
Elizabeth Whitman received her J.D. from The Ohio State University College of Law and LL.M. in Securities and Financial Regulation from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC. In addition to being licensed to practice law in Maryland, District of Columbia, New York, and Ohio, she is a licensed real estate broker.
Before going to law school, Elizabeth studied violin performance at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music and at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s esteemed chamber music program. Elizabeth credits her music background as having incubated Whitman Legal Solutions’ disciplined and creative approach to the practice of law and celebrates her love of classical music in Whitman Legal Solutions’ blog.
