New green building tool evaluated by I.S.O.
Eco Seed - Aug 3
A tool called the Common Carbon Metric, developed by the United Nations
Environment Program, will be evaluated by the International Organization for Standardization or I.S.O. to become a global standard for green buildings. The tool measures both energy use and greenhouse gas emissions equivalent in buildings per meter squared or per occupant over the course of a year. The metric was launched in a pilot phase in Paris in May, 2010. Phase II of pilot testing will proceed in May to October of 2011.
