Asian representation on Fortune 1000 boards: 2023 Asian representation on Fortune 1000 boards: 2023 Edition marks the third study by the KPMG Board Leadership Center and Ascend Pinnacle examining trends in board service, gender, age, committee service, and tenure of Asian directors, as well as their prevalence by industry and state of corporate headquarters. Asian directors were identified by Ascend, and data on public Fortune 1000 company boards and directors were provided by Equilar. Among the key findings:

• The percentage of public Fortune 1000 board seats held by Asian directors increased from 4.0 percent in 2020 to 6.4 percent in 2023.

• A majority of public Fortune 1000 boards (54%) still do not have an Asian director.

• Nearly two-thirds of the Asian directors studied have held their board seats for less than five years.

• Twenty-seven public Fortune 1000 companies have a board chair who is Asian.

• Companies in the technology industry have the highest prevalence of Asian board members....
