In a joint resolution, the California legislature affirmed that both the California Assembly and Senate are commitment to President Joe Biden’s vision for safe artificial intelligence.
Specifically, they expressed support for the principles outlined in the “Blueprint for an AI Bill of Rights,” which are intended to guide the design, use and deployment of automated systems in a manner that protects the rights of the public while leveraging the benefits of AI. That includes : Safe and Effective Systems, Algorithmic Discrimination Protections, Data Privacy, Notice and Explanation, and Human Alternatives, Consideration, and Fallback.
The California Legislature also committed to examining and implementing these principles in its legislation and policies related to the use and deployment of automated systems in the state.
