The global class action landscape continues to evolve. There are more collective actions across Europe than ever before, and the implementation of the EU Directive on "Representative actions for the protection of the collective interests of consumers" has fuelled activity even further. In the UK, the Competition Appeal Tribunal is handling increasing numbers of proceedings, and we are now seeing judgments being issued which will shape the approach taken by all parties in future cases. At the same time, there have been a number of significant judgments in the English courts as the boundaries of various collective action mechanisms are tested ever more regularly.
