A $30 billion Education Stabilization Fund is available through September 9, 2021 to “prevent,  prepare for, and respond to coronavirus”

  • Formula grants for states to subgrant to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) the State deems having had the greatest impact from corona-virus so that the LEAs can continue to provide educational services and to support “ongoing functionality”. Or for any other function the State deems necessary.  $3 billion allocated.
  • $13.5 billion in formula grants to states to subgrant to LEAs, including charter schools, for:
    • Any activity authorized under federal K-12 law (Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), McKinney Vento Homeless Assistance Act (McKinney Act), and Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act (Perkins Act), etc.
    • To prevent, prepare for, or respond to coronavirus
    • Activities to assist special populations, including low-income, special needs, minorities, and homeless students
    • Improving response and preparedness
    • Training on the prevention of the spread of communicable diseases and cleaning supplies
    • Planning for long-term closures
    • Technology
    • Mental health services
    • Summer learning
    • Other activities for continuity of learning

Project SERV (School Emergency Response to Violence) $100 million to respond to the immediate needs of coronavirus and the effects on students.

Ability by US Department of Education (DoE) to waive requirements for assessment, accountability, and reporting.
