On July 10, 2017, Connecticut Governor Dannel P. Malloy released Connecticut Cybersecurity Strategy, that outlines seven key principles to assist with strengthening efforts to protect the state’s cybersecurity defenses for individuals, organizations, governmental agencies and businesses in Connecticut.

The seven principles set forth in the Strategy document include:

  • Leadership
  • Literacy
  • Preparation
  • Response
  • Recovery
  • Communication and
  • Verification

The strategy is designed to put “the entire state on the same page when it comes to cybersecurity”…because “we must be unified in understanding the nature, ubiquity, urgency and persistence of the cyber threat.” In addition, “it is to put the entire state on the same path.”

The Strategy is designed to discuss the perspectives of five sectors:

  • Connecticut State Government
  • Municipalities
  • Business (with a emphasis on critical infrastructure, financial services, insurance, and defense)
  • Higher Education and
  • Law Enforcement and Security.

A more extensive action plan will follow that will be designed to execute the strategy.
