Welcome to the February edition of the Alston & Bird CPSC Recall Snapshot.

This month, the CPSC, along with the EPA and CDC/ATSDR, launched a multi-agency action plan to study environmental human health questions regarding recycled tire crumb used in playing fields and playgrounds. The action plan seeks to (1) “fill important data and knowledge gaps”; (2) “characterize constituents of recycled tire crumb”; and (3) “identify ways in which people may be exposed to tire crumb based on their activities on the fields.” The action plan includes numerous activities, including research studies. By late 2016, the agencies will release a draft status report that describes the findings and conclusions of the research through that point in time. The report will also outline any additional research needs and next steps.
