The IRS workforce continues to shrink, with deferred resignations of hundreds of IRS Appeals personnel. Bloomberg reports that the IRS expects 1,324 Appeals employees to remain by the end of 2025, down from 1,777 at the beginning of the year. The IRS's outlook apparently remains positive:

“That hurts in some respects, but we are going to do our best to not let that long-term disrupt operations too much,” said IRS Independent Office of Appeals Chief Liz Askey.
