OSHA’s list of 2017 most frequently cited violations are the usual suspects with one addition.

Fall protection is again the number one cited violation by OSHA followed by hazard communication, scaffolding, respiratory protection, lock-out/tag-out, ladders, powered industrial trucks, machine guarding, fall protection training requirements and electrical wiring methods.

While the majority of these are repetitive items on OSHA’s yearly top 10 list, the addition of fall protection training requirements as No. 9 is important, especially with OSHA’s special emphasis programming for falls.

With fall protection the number one cited violation, the fact that fall protection training requirements has now entered the top 10 list and may likely move up the top 10 list should not be surprising.

The entry of fall protection training requirements on the top 10 list also acknowledges OSHA’s continued emphasis on training, training, training.

In order to prevent falls, fall protection training is necessary and fall-related citations occupy places on OSHA’s top 10 list.
