On January 6, 2023, Fidelity Building Services Group filed notice of a data breach with the Attorney General of Texas following an incident in which an unauthorized party was able to access confidential information that had been entrusted to the company. Based on the company’s official filing, the incident resulted in an unauthorized party gaining access to consumers’ first and last names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, and other government-issued identification numbers. After confirming that consumer data was leaked, Fidelity Building Services Group began sending out data breach notification letters to all individuals who were impacted by the recent data security incident.

If you received a data breach letter from Fidelity Building Services Group, it means that the information you provided to the company may now be in the hands of cybercriminals looking to use it for their own financial gain. As we’ve discussed in prior posts, this significantly increases your risk of having your identity stolen. However, as a data breach victim, you have rights, including the right to pursue legal action against any company that negligently stored your information. While it’s too early to tell if Fidelity Building Services Group met its legal obligations to protect your information, data breach lawyers are reviewing the breach and can further advise victims of their rights.
