At a conference in Manhattan on September 10, 2015, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo proposed a minimum wage hike to $15 for all New Yorkers.  This would be the highest state minimum wage in the nation, and far exceeds the increases the Governor announced he would seek earlier this year.  New York’s current minimum wage is $8.75 per hour, going up to $9.00 effective December 31, 2015.  The $15 proposal is destined to face sharp opposition in Albany and from the business community throughout the state.
