Q: Are booster doses covered under the CMS regulations?
A: At this time, boosters do not appear to be covered under the CMS regulations although this may change in the future. There is a statement within the regulations that you as a facility must have “a process” for tracking and securely documenting the COVID-19 vaccine status of any staff who have obtained booster doses as recommended by the CDC. Although more regulation is coming, you do need to amend your policies to require that if a staff member receives a booster shot that this be reported to employee health.
