President Donald Trump has issued a presidential proclamation suspending entry to the United States of certain additional immigrants and nonimmigrants who may pose a risk of transmitting the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The new travel suspension generally applies to foreign nationals who were physically present within the Schengen Area during the 14-day period preceding their entry or attempted entry into the United States. The list of Schengen countries includes:
Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.
The proclamation also provides a specific list of individuals and circumstances where the suspension will not apply. For example, the suspension does not apply to travelers who have been in the U.K. during this 14-day pre-admission period.
The suspension takes affect at 11:59 p.m. EDT, March 13.

This is a rapidly evolving situation, and we are also receiving ongoing updates regarding the suspension of further Consular operations at various posts outside of China as well. If you have a scheduled appointment at one of the U.S. Consulates, we strongly recommend that you confirm your appointment before you attend.
