What Caused the Tandym Group Data Breach?

The Tandym Group data breach was only recently announced, and more information is expected in the near future. However, at this early point, the only source of information is Tandym’s filing with the Attorney General of Massachusetts, which provides very little information on what led up to the breach.

According to this source, Tandym recently experienced a data security incident resulting in an unauthorized party gaining access to confidential information. While Tandym’s data breach letter doesn’t provide details about the incident or the company’s response, after learning about it, Tandym secured its system and then launched an investigation.

Ultimately, Tandym’s investigation confirmed that confidential information belonging to certain consumers was made accessible to an unauthorized party.

After learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to an unauthorized party, Tandym Group reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted. Tandym is offering victims of the recent breach 24 months of credit monitoring by Cyberscout through Identity Force, a TransUnion company.

On April 5, 2024, Tandym Group sent out data breach letters to anyone who was affected by the recent data security incident. While the publicly available data breach letter does not mention the specific data types that were compromised, the personalized letters should provide victims with a list of what information belonging to them was compromised.
