Today the U.S. Department of the Treasury certified specific census tracts nominated by Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant and designated such census tracts as Qualified Opportunity Zones. The Opportunity Zone Program, established by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, is a new community development program aimed to encourage long term investments by providing tax incentives for investments in these low-income communities designated as Qualified Opportunity Zones.
