In a statement released August 4, 2023, the California Privacy Protection Agency (CPPA) and California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced they filed a petition with California’s Third District Court of Appeal to overturn the Sacramento County Superior Court’s decision to delay enforcement of the California Privacy Rights Act’s (CPRA) regulations. We previously covered the Superior Court’s decision in our Privacy Alert: California Court Delays Enforcement of CPRA Regulations.

The CPPA’s announcement states that “[t]he Agency anticipates the Court of Appeal will issue a decision on whether it will take up the petition in the coming weeks, if not sooner.” We will continue to monitor this situation to keep you informed regarding CCPA/CPRA compliance and next steps regarding enforcement of CPRA’s regulations.
