CMMC is a unifying standard for the implementation of cybersecurity across the defense industrial base, and contractors who ignore it may be prevented from competing for contracts with DOD and, most likely, all federal agencies soon enough. Section 889 prohibits government agencies and government contractors they work with from using or providing certain covered telecommunications equipment or services from Chinese manufacturers. Noncompliance with Section 889 can similarly prevent contractors from competing for work from any federal agency.
