As discussed in our EmployerLINC Alert earlier this month, the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) Wage & Hour Division announced a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) to increase the salary threshold employees must meet in order to be exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

On March 22, 2019, the DOL officially published its proposed rule regarding the new overtime laws to the Federal Register. Written comments may now be submitted for 60 days. The comment period closes on or before May 21, 2019. The proposed rulemaking was unveiled about two weeks ago. We expect to see thousands of comments from key stakeholders.

You can read the full proposed rule here.
