Last week, Cargill Meat Solutions
terminated approximately 190 employees who failed to report to work for three consecutive days. The employees, who are Muslim, stayed away from work in protest over the meatpacking plant’s practices relating to time off to pray. The employees requested that they all be allowed a break for evening prayer at the same time during the second shift, something the
plant did not allow. The fallout from the termination decision has made
headlines around the world.
