Every two months, our experts from around the world put together an update on immigration and global mobility practice, setting out recent changes to the law, policies and procedures.

The November 2023 edition of our Immigration and Global Mobility Update gathers contributions from 15 countries. Here are the highlights.  We continue to report on developments around the EU’s Framework Agreement on Cross-Border Telework, with France issuing procedural instructions and Denmark electing not to join, for the time being. A number of European jurisdictions have made changes aimed at increasing skilled migration, whether by increasing existing quotas for some third country nationals or by adding to lists of shortage professions. Swedish employers, on the other hand, are unhappy with increased maintenance requirements, as they struggle to attract skilled workers. Hungary has introduced a guest worker permit, while Spain has sought to make it easier for international remote workers to work from Spain and to facilitate inbound intra-company transfers.  Serbia has simplified its procedures for certain migrant workers, Chile has done so for graduate students and researchers, and Ireland will introduce an online application process for naturalisation applications. The UK has started its roll-out of mandatory Electronic Travel Authorisations for non-visa nationals visiting or transiting through the UK, which will initially apply to Qatari nationals.
